Queensland
From the bush to the beach, from the outback to the reef, national parks protect Queensland's special heritage.
National parks sample the state's best scenery and incredible natural diversity, provide homes for our native wildlife and protect special historic sites and indigenous cultural places.
About half Queensland's national parks have been developed for public recreation. Here, you can picnic, bushwalk and camp in the very best Queensland has to offer. Get into parks!
You can enjoy Queensland's national parks all-year-round (closures are uncommon). The best time to visit Cape York Peninsula and inland parks is April–September, cooler and drier months. Many popular parks are crowded during public and school holidays, especially Christmas–New Year, Easter, June and September.
